The mathematics department aims to empower students with confidence in their mathematical abilities. We believe that mathematical skills extend beyond the classroom. By fostering a deep understanding of mathematical principles, we equip our students to apply these skills effectively in various contexts.
Aspire
In our lessons, students are challenged to reach their full potential. We encourage them to set high aspirations for themselves. Through rigorous teaching, we ensure that students not only grasp mathematical concepts but also understand the “why” behind techniques. This understanding allows them to make connections between different mathematical ideas.
Enrich
We believe in nurturing creativity and critical thinking. Students have access to enrichment activities that encourage them to think outside of the box. This includes our weekly Maths Puzzle and participation in UKMT competitions. Our focus on problem solving, using logical and systematic approaches and real world maths helps to equip our students for their future.
Belong
We aim to create a safe and inclusive space where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas and exploring mathematical concepts. Collaboration is encouraged, allowing students to learn from one another and appreciate diverse perspectives. By fostering a sense of belonging, we empower students to express themselves confidently in mathematical language.
